Float Therapy

**Due to COVID-19 and the State of Maine restrictions on massage therapy and other bodywork modalities, Float Therapy has been suspended indefinitely.**

If you want a completely relaxing and totally luxurious experience, even if you haven’t experienced a loss, the Float to Freedom session is a one-of-a-kind opportunity to receive CranioSacral Therapy while floating in a sensory deprivation tank.

What is Float Therapy?

Float Therapy is a way experience an environment of gravity and sensory reduction. The float tank contains water combined with 1,000 pounds of Epsom salt, allowing your body to be effortlessly supported. The water and air are set to body temperature, so your sense of where the water ends and the air begins is minimal. Float Therapy is used to help clear your mind and relax your muscles, as you receive the healing qualities of the Epsom salts.

What is CranioSacral Therapy?

CranioSacral Therapy is a light-touch, hands-on healing therapy that releases tension found in the central nervous system (the brain and the spinal cord). CranioSacral Therapy helps to relieve pain and facilitates deep relaxation.

Why combine the therapies?

These two therapies work in perfect harmony. Float Therapy combined with CranioSacral Therapy allows you to enter a state of complete relaxation and sensory reduction. Without the full force of gravity, your body can release tension with greater ease. Your body will have the opportunity to rest, recover, and restore from the inside out.

“I was referred to Emily by a friend who spoke very highly of her, but I had no idea how much of a miracle worker Emily was until my first session. I have seen many healers and bodyworkers over the years, and with pretty much all of them, I would have some relief and then shortly thereafter, my symptoms would return.

Working with Emily, there are two major differences in my experience. First, the actual session is a dream. In fact, sometimes literally. I often fall asleep on the table, which is amazing – that’s never happened to me before and is a testament to Emily’s deeply calming personal presence and energy, as well as the skill of her work. Second, the results are more systemic and often more lasting. That’s not to say that it’s an immediate fix, but I know she’s working on energy and bodily symptoms that have been long-held and are beginning to untangle.

When I see Emily, I feel deeply taken care of, body and soul. I have seen many, many healers and I have pretty high standards. I have never recommended someone more than I recommend Emily. She’s a gifted healer and anyone would be lucky to work with her.”

“I first sought Emily’s services because of chronic pain. I had an old injury that required hardware to be inserted into my bone and I was experiencing pain in that leg every day.

At that point I had done years of physical therapy, conventional massage and acupuncture with no consistent relief. Chronic pain permeated every facet of my life.

I was only in my early 30s, so this saddened me. It made me feel like I couldn’t be my athletic, outdoorsy self anymore.

My work with Emily was transformational. She helped me unwind all of the trauma my body had experienced. The improvements built over time. I experienced significant relaxation and new sensations of micro-movement in the first session. Then after 3 to 4 sessions, I began experiencing full-body changes between sessions.

Emily is a wonderful provider with a thoughtful, holistic approach. You never feel rushed. And she takes the time for whatever you have going on. Be it physical pain or emotional anguish, Emily guides you and your body to a better place.”

“I was on a healing path to put my Lyme Disease into remission when I started working with Emily.

At my first appointment I was dizzy, nauseous and sad. Emily’s deep sense of compassion made it easy to sit with her and share everything I’d been going through.

I’ve worked with her nearly every week for 2 months now. She always remembers how I was the previous week — and she provides me with perspective on my progress.

She’s also genuinely interested in how I’m doing. If I need to share what’s on my mind, she makes time for that. Then together we decide what we’ll work on in our session.

My body is finally learning to relax. I didn’t even realize that was an option before! Now after each session, I feel ‘reset.’ Emily also gives me recommendations to help me stay that way between sessions.

She is kind, patient, compassionate, understanding and wise. I feel better knowing I have her as a healing resource and I’m thankful for her presence in my life.”
